Tenebrae Consort

Tenebrae Consort comes to The Plaza Centre on Friday 16 April 2027 for an evening of choral music shaped around love, loss and laughter. Beginning at 8pm, the concert showcases the ensemble’s refined vocal blend alongside the individual strengths of its singers, with music spanning several centuries.

The programme includes Byrd’s Four Part Mass, Britten’s Flower Songs, Wilbye’s Draw on sweet night and three-part songs by Frank Bridge. Further works by Morley, Lobo, Wilkes, Rutter, Bob Chilcott and Grayston Ives will also feature. Earlier that day, Nigel Short will lead a singers’ workshop from 1.30pm to 3pm, offering an additional opportunity to take part in the musical programme. Tickets and workshop booking information are available online via Southend’s concert series booking page.
