A “truly remarkable” group of teenagers have said a fond farewell to Chase High School.
Year 11 students at the school, in Westcliff, celebrated the end of their GCSE exams with a leavers’ assembly, BBQ and prom.
The assembly gave students and their teachers an opportunity to reflect on the last five years and the experiences and successes their secondary education has brought.
At the BBQ, friends signed each other’s shirts to act as a keepsake from their school days and recorded video messages for their teachers to express appreciation and share their favourite memories.
The celebrations finished with a prom at Saxon Hall.
Richard Baxter, head of year 11, said:
“These events provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, resilience and character of a truly remarkable year group as they reached the end of their secondary school journey.
“The celebrations culminated with an outstanding prom. Students arrived looking exceptionally smart and conducted themselves with maturity, respect and pride throughout the event. Their behaviour, attitude and interactions with one another were exemplary and reflected the values that the school seeks to develop in all young people.
“The evening was filled with laughter, dancing and celebration, providing students with lasting memories as they prepare for the next stage of their education and future careers. Staff were immensely proud to see the confidence, kindness and maturity displayed by the cohort, many of whom have overcome significant challenges during their time at school.
“These events highlighted not only the achievements of our Year 11 students, but also the strong sense of community that exists within the school. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to hearing about their future successes.”
