Chelmsford is gearing up for one of its biggest weekends of live music as Chelmsford Summer Series takes over Central Park across the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August.
The three-day open-air series brings together some of the biggest names in pop, rock, dance and electronic music, turning 35 acres of parkland in the heart of the city into a major festival destination.
Friday 28 August kicks things off with Sugababes, joined by Annie Mac, Melanie C performing a DJ set, Jodie Harsh and Arthi. A second stage hosted by Love Sensation adds even more dance and club sounds to the opening day. Gates open at 3pm, with live music beginning from 4pm and the event running until 10pm.
Saturday 29 August sees McFly headline a special Essex homecoming show. Drummer Harry Judd was born in Chelmsford, while bassist Dougie Poynter comes from nearby Corringham, giving the performance an extra local connection. The band are joined by Twin Atlantic, The Ordinary Boys, Rianne Downey and Olivia Rogers, with the day running from 1pm until 10pm.
The weekend finishes on Sunday 30 August with New World Festival celebrating its fifth anniversary. Craig David brings his acclaimed TS5 show to Central Park, alongside Kurupt FM, Nathan Dawe, Sigma, Switch Disco, Low Steppa and more across multiple stages.
Food, bars and festival facilities will also be available across the site.
Central Park is within easy reach of Chelmsford city centre and is around an eight-minute walk from Chelmsford railway station, making the Summer Series a convenient Bank Holiday day out for music fans from across Essex and beyond.
Friday and Saturday are strictly 16+, with 16 and 17-year-olds required to attend with an adult. Sunday’s New World Festival is strictly 18+.
Whether you are in the mood for pop classics, guitar anthems or a full day of dance music, Chelmsford Summer Series offers three very different reasons to head into the city this Bank Holiday weekend.
