Residents from across Southend are being urged to attend a peaceful protest this Saturday to stand against the proposed development of 10,000 houses on cherished green belt land by Bournes Green Chase. The event will be held on Southend High Street, by the Odeon, from 11am to 1pm, and aims to send a clear message to the current administration that local people will not accept the destruction of their green spaces.
The protest is a unified effort from residents, environmental campaigners, and political figures who, while standing on their own platforms, share a common goal – to save Southend’s green belt. Resident associations taking part are apolitical and are not linked to any party, coming together purely in the interests of the community.

It is vital that as many residents as possible from Southend and the surrounding area attend to show their support and ensure that the voices of the community are heard loud and clear.
If you believe this development is wrong for Southend, write to your MP, Southend Council, and the New Towns Taskforce. Tell them to reject this plan and protect our Green Belt. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
