We have been made aware of a scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from Southend-on-Sea City Council, stating that recipients have a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and providing a link for payment.
Please note: This is a scam.
Southend-on-Sea City Council will never contact you via text regarding a PCN.
You will only receive a legitimate PCN either:
- As a physical ticket on your vehicle, or
- In the form of a letter sent to the registered keeper address of the vehicle.
If you receive such a text message, do not click the link or attempt to make a payment. Simply ignore and delete the message to avoid any potential fraud.
