Southend-on-Sea City Council’s fostering team took part in Fusion’s successful open weekend event at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre on 28th and 29th September, engaging with prospective foster carers and highlighting the many benefits of fostering with the Council.
The event drew dozens of attendees, with the fostering team sharing how rewarding it is to become a foster carer. They emphasised the extensive support provided by Southend-on-Sea City Council, ensuring new applicants are fully prepared to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in need across the city.
This follows a successful event held in July for existing foster carers, where exclusive activity discounts for fostering families, cared-for children, and care leavers were introduced at the same venue.
Councillor Laurie Burton, cabinet member for children, young people, and SEND, said:
“If you have space in your heart and home, fostering offers a truly fulfilling path. Our fostering team is here to guide you every step of the way.”
He added: “The care they provide for the young people in our city is invaluable, and I’d like to personally thank them for their dedication.”
