SOUTHEND’s leading homeless charity, Harp, has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing antisocial behaviour while continuing its mission to support rough sleepers.

A murder investigation has been launched in Westcliff after a man was killed in a violent attack last evening. Emergency services quickly responded to reports of a serious assault on London Road at the junction with Hamlet Court Road.

Last weekend, 360+ runners participated in HARP24, a 24-hour race at Cherry Orchard Country Park organized by HARP. This largest-ever event raised over £20,000 for HARP’s mission to end homelessness in Southend.

The Knife Angel, the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, is a thought-provoking 27-foot-high sculpture crafted from over 100,000 confiscated or surrendered weapons and is now in Southend-on-Sea.

The Ironworks is Southend’s beloved arts and culture venue, situated at 90 The High Street. The concept has rapidly grown in popularity, becoming a hub of creativity and entertainment in the heart of Southend since opening in September 2022.

Southend’s District Commander, Chief Inspector Jo Collins, has said increasing public engagement and addressing local people’s concerns has helped to improve confidence levels and reduce offending.

The most recent local elections saw Labour become the biggest political group on the council for the first time in almost 70 years, allowing us to form a stable administration on Southend-on-Sea City Council with colleagues from the Liberal Democrat and Independent Groups.

Greens are proving all around England that they are the credible alternative to the status quo through their hard work and dedication for residents.
