The Society was formed in 1934 as a direct result of this Society’s campaign to have Hadleigh Great Wood preserved as a nature reserve for the enjoyment of future generations.rnrnThe AIMS are to further the study and conservation of the flora and fauna, particularly in South Essex, and to interact with the community to create an awareness of the importance, and benefit to the public, of local wildlife. The Society takes an active interest in local affairs relating to natural history. It holds meetings both indoors in Southend and outdoors to which the general public are invited.rnrnIf we are to continue to protect our natural heritage we need your support.rnMembership is open to anyone interested in natural history or who wishes to learn more but, regretfully. no new members are being accepted.
