Southend United’s unbeaten run came to an end on Wednesday evening as they slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Eastleigh.
The home side went ahead midway through the first half when Scott Quigley created space in the area and struck past Collin Andeng-Ndi. The Shrimpers responded after the interval, with Slavi Spasov converting from close range to level the score.
Eastleigh, however, regained the lead soon after when Enzio Boldewijn finished off a swift counter-attack to secure all three points. Despite a determined late push from Southend, with several dangerous deliveries into the box, the hosts stood firm and took the victory.
The result leaves Southend reflecting on missed chances and defensive errors, while Eastleigh celebrated a well-earned win in front of their supporters.
