Southend United suffered back-to-back defeats as Scunthorpe United left Roots Hall with a 2-0 win on Saturday.
The visitors struck first through Tom Pugh, who found the net midway through the opening half. Despite Southend creating chances after the break, Scunthorpe doubled their advantage when Danny Whitehall converted late on to seal victory.
The result leaves the Shrimpers reflecting on missed opportunities, while Scunthorpe celebrated a well-earned away win.
