In my conversations with local organisations, one thing I hear time and again is how challenging it can be to access funding.
Many groups are doing outstanding work on limited resources, and too often they feel underrepresented or unsure about where to start when it comes to applying for funding. I wanted to help change that.
So, in partnership with SAVS (Southend Association of Voluntary Services), we are holding a Community Funding Fair on the 5th of June, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Bellevue Baptist Church.
This event is designed to make funding more accessible, more approachable, and more transparent. It’s a chance to meet funders face-to-face, have real conversations, and ask questions directly. Whether you’re a small grassroots group just getting started or a more established organisation looking to grow, there will be something here for you. It’s all about bringing people together, particularly the incredible community groups and charities that do so much to support others across our area.
We’ll have a fantastic range of funders in the room, including the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the National Lottery Community Fund, Historic England, People’s Postcode Lottery, and a number of local and regional trusts!
Funding, Tips and Connections
Alongside meeting funders, attendees will be able to learn about current and upcoming funding opportunities, pick up practical tips on strengthening applications, and connect with other organisations working in the community. Building those relationships is just as important as securing funding, and this event is a great space to do both.
I’d love to see as many local groups there as possible, and I encourage anyone interested to sign up and join us!
