The Southend Pass continues to demonstrate its success, boasting over half a million uses since its launch in April 2024.
Priced at just £12.50 per month or £125 annually (with upfront payment), the pass has proven to be an excellent value. Since April, users have made over 500,000 parking transactions, with more than half occurring around the High Street, bolstering Southend’s local economy.
Following the changes to seafront evening parking in July, the pass has also been used over 12,000 times along the seafront between 6 PM and 9 PM.
The pass provides:
- Up to 3 hours of parking in any council-owned car park or on-street pay-and-display parking bay.
- Daily parking for up to 13 hours across various city zones.
- An additional 3-hour allowance in the central seafront area (Zone 1a) between 6 PM and 9 PM.
The Southend Pass is accessible via the Southend Parking app, available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Simply purchase the pass, park, and activate your parking session through the app. If you need extra time in a zone, you can extend your session for the relevant additional charge.
Cllr Daniel Cowan, leader of the council, stated:

I’m particularly pleased to see users taking advantage of the additional benefit of another three hours of parking along the seafront in the evenings.
“The Pass is not just about parking, it’s about supporting our local businesses and ensuring that Southend remains an attractive option for both residents and visitors. It is a fantastic parking offer, and the recent figures show that usage has been high in the High Street and seafront, showing the versatility of the Pass, but also how it benefits our primary shopping and visitor areas.”
