Residents across Thorpe Bay, Bournes Green and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to attend a series of public outreach events to learn more about proposals that could see around 3,000 additional homes built on land within the Bournes Green area.
The outreach events are being organised by Iceni, working on behalf of Bellway, and aim to provide information about the proposed development and give local residents an opportunity to ask questions directly to representatives involved in the plans.
The first event will take place on Wednesday 18 June between 3pm and 6pm outside the Nisa store on The Broadway in Thorpe Bay.
According to local campaigners, the proposed development would be in addition to approximately 2,000 homes already planned for the wider area.
Residents attending the outreach are being encouraged to raise questions about a range of issues, including traffic management, transport infrastructure, parking provision, local healthcare services, school capacity, utilities and environmental impacts.
Concerns that have been raised by some local residents include proposals for access via Royal Artillery Way, potential congestion around the Bournes Green roundabout, parking availability within the development, pressure on local roads and public transport, and the impact on wildlife and agricultural land.
Questions have also been raised regarding the provision of affordable housing and whether supporting infrastructure would be delivered alongside any future development.

Residents wishing to find out more about the proposals are encouraged to attend one of the events and speak directly with representatives.
