A golden glow now brightens Southend’s Royals Shopping Centre, thanks to a striking awareness installation created by Swan Creative, Leigh-on-Sea, in support of local charity Gold Geese.

Gold Geese provides practical and emotional support to families of children and young people fighting cancer. Each family receives help tailored to their needs, from mental health therapy and food vouchers to toy vouchers, weekend breaks, and assistance with travel to and from hospital. The charity also raises vital awareness of childhood cancer signs and symptoms, delivers training workshops for parents and professionals, and encourages people to donate blood or register as bone marrow donors.
Every year, around 1,900 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer, creating emotional, physical and financial challenges for entire families. Gold Geese aims to be there every step of the way for those affected locally.

A Design of Strength and Hope
To help shine a spotlight on this work, Swan Creative designed, printed and installed a gold mirrored window signage display at The Royals. The radiant vinyls were chosen to symbolise energy, warmth and optimism, complemented by photographs of families and Gold Geese support staff to bring the message to life.
At its heart sits #WeFlyTogether, capturing the charity’s spirit of unity and community strength.
Awareness in Action
The installation also features interactive QR codes, allowing visitors to instantly learn the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer or donate directly via mobile phone, turning awareness into real action.
A standout element is the Gold Geese Selfie feature, encouraging visitors to take a photo with the glowing golden backdrop and share it online using #WeFlyTogether. This social feature helps spread awareness beyond the shopping centre, creating a ripple effect of support across the community.
“Creating this display for Gold Geese was an honour,” said the Swan Creative team. “We wanted it to inspire people to pause, reflect and get involved.”
