COMMUNITY MEETING TO BE HELD AT THE SHOEBURY BAPTIST CHURCH (LARGE HALL) IN THORPEDENE GARDENS (opposite Shoebury High School) ON:
TUESDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2025 FROM 7 pm UNTIL 9pm
We are sure you have heard about our Council’s plan to build several thousand’s of new homes in Southend, 10,000 of which will be on the Bournes Green Site, which stretches from Bournes Green Chase / Poynters Lane down to Southend Road (where Morley’s is situated) & from Star Lane to Wakering Road, with 5,000 being in Shoebury & 5,000 being in Rochford. Rochford has already removed this green belt land from their local plan.
We are appealing to all Southend Residents to complete the Consultation provided by our Council, but this is 400 pages long and full of information that we believe is misleading & leaves out many of the facts that we feel is important to share with you.
We have tried our best to ensure all the information we provide is sincere & obtained from previous news stories, attending Council meetings and alike, without any political input. We are trying to share figures that are based upon the facts provided in the plan which will take us from the 7th most populated Town in the UK to the top of the list.
It promises things that cannot be delivered and places the Developer as the only way of financing the infrastructure, when existing developers in Shoebury, cannot even provide the Council’s policy of 30% Affordable Homes and forgets about the 1,660 on our Council waiting list, disabled residents who need adapted homes and the thousands of our young residents who are desperate to get their feet on the housing ladder.
If you cannot attend, then please share your email address with: shoeburyresidents@gmail.com and we will send you a Flyer.
If you have no email address then send in your comments by post by using:
Planning Policy,

or email: planningpolicy@southend.gov.uk
If you can join us, we will help you through the Shoebury part of the plan (Section 12) which is shown on pages 386 to 393, which only has TWO questions for you to answer, out of nearly 100 questions in the main plan.
Most of the CLOSED questions are “Yes” or “No” answers and although they may share a few thousand words of waffle first, they give you a summary not exceeding 100 words to answer your views.
We have spent a huge amount of time & energy to be able to share these facts with you, so if you have 2 hours to spare we assure you it will be time well spent.
We only have ONE chance to protect this greenbelt land and as the old saying goes “Once it goes, you can never have it back”
THIS PLAN IS NOT ABOUT THE NEED FOR HOMES IN SOUTHEND, IT IS ABOUT THE GREED OF OUR COUNCIL INVITING LONDONERS TO BUY OUR HOUSES, WHICH ARE CHEAPER AND SEND THEIR KIDS TO OUR SCHOOLS, WHICH ARE BETTER.
(This is the wording in Our Council’s Planning Policy under section 2.15 makes it very clear that “Southend-on-Sea offers London workers a lower cost of living & better performing schools”)
SEE YOU AT OUR COMMUNITY MEETING!
