Free Outdoor Screening of Migration – The Big Screen at Southend City Beach

Join the flock this summer for a free open-air screening of Illumination’s “Migration” on Wednesday 21 August 2025, starting at 11am. As part of Southend’s popular Big Screen series, City Beach becomes the perfect place to enjoy a cinematic treat by the sea.

Migration follows a family of ducks who decide to break out of their boring pond life and embark on a high-flying adventure. Featuring gorgeous animation and heartwarming humour, this fun-filled movie is perfect for children and adults alike.

With the beach at your feet and the sun (hopefully!) shining overhead, it’s a great way to entertain the kids during the holidays without spending a penny. The Big Screen events are totally free, and seating is first come, first served—so arrive early for the best view.

Bring your picnic blankets, fold-out chairs, and favourite snacks. Don’t forget sunscreen and perhaps a beach umbrella for shade. Nearby vendors and seafront cafés will also be open, so you can grab an ice cream or coffee while you watch.

After the film, make a day of it! You’re already on Southend’s iconic seafront—with arcades, Adventure Island, and the Pier all just a short stroll away.
