In the Garden
Plant potted Cyclamen and your autumn bulbs for spring flowering. Remove shading from glasshouses and clear away summer bedding if it’s looking tired. Pansies and Viola’s are now available in the Main Glasshouse. Take time to divide Herbaceous Perennials and remember — now is a perfect time to sow a new lawn.
By the pond
Cover the surface of your pond if leaf fall is excessive, and continue to remove Blanketweed and Duckweed. Keep an eye out for fungal problems on Waterlilies to prevent damage before winter sets in.
About the house
Plant up containers with Amaryllis and Hyacinth bulbs to enjoy flowers at Christmas. Reduce watering of your houseplants, and take a look at the beautiful array of hanging indoor plants now in stock.
Family & Friends
Leave vegetation to die back naturally — this will provide vital food and shelter for birds, insects, and other wild animals throughout the coldest months. Bird boxes aren’t just for nesting! They can also offer safe refuge for resident birds such as Robins and Starlings during the chilly months.
Put out high-energy food for wild birds to help them build fat reserves for migration journeys. Hedgehogs will be looking for somewhere to later hibernate and will be eating more to increase their fat reserves — we have houses and food available in Pets & Aquatics.
