Santa Maria Replica Ship Visit at Southend Pier & Railway

⚓ Ahoy there, adventurers! 🏴‍☠️ This July, one of the most famous ships in maritime history will be docking right here in Southend-on-Sea! The magnificent Nao Santa Maria – a stunning full-size replica of Christopher Columbus’ flagship – is coming to Southend Pier for a limited time only.

Step back in time as you climb aboard this 15th-century four-masted carrack. Lovingly reconstructed, the Santa Maria was the lead ship on Columbus’ legendary 1492 voyage that changed the course of history forever. Now, you can explore its decks and imagine what life was like on the high seas over 500 years ago. 🌊⚓

Wander through four fascinating decks – from the Admiral’s cabin and crew quarters to the cargo holds and working areas. With its timber beams, ropes, and authentic fittings, this is an unmissable hands-on experience for curious minds young and old. 🧭✨

👣 Important Info: Please note the ship is a faithful replica of an old working vessel and is accessed via gangway with uneven floors and steep stairs — not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or visitors with limited mobility.
