The Kite Festival on Southend’s Eastern Esplanade

✨ Southend’s Eastern Esplanade will come alive this July with a splash of colour and soaring fun at the very first Kite Festival! ✨

Bring your kites, your family and your friends for a fantastic free day out by the seaside. Whether you’re a seasoned kite flyer or a total beginner, this event is the perfect chance to watch the skies fill with dazzling displays and take part in the fun yourself.

🏖️ The festival takes place along the beautiful stretch of Eastern Esplanade, right between Ocean Beach and the Roslin Beach Hotel — the perfect backdrop for a day in the great outdoors. While the kites dance in the sky, you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous range of restaurants, cafés, hotels and bars that line this vibrant part of Southend’s coastline. 🍽️☕🍸

🌊 And it’s not just the skies that will be buzzing — tides and weather permitting, you can also watch thrilling kite surfing displays out at sea, courtesy of Southend Kite Surfers. They’ll be there to showcase their skills and chat about this exciting sport.

🚤 The festival will also be joined by friends from the RNLI and Essex Police, who will be promoting the importance of coastal safety — a vital message for anyone who loves our wonderful shoreline.

So grab your kite, pack a picnic (or explore the many tempting eateries nearby), and head down to the Eastern Esplanade for a day full of colour, laughter and community spirit.
