Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal has made incredible progress, having now reached an impressive £495,000 of its £600,000 goal.
Once complete, SGRT will enable greater accuracy in radiotherapy treatments, eliminating the need for tattoo markings and replacing closed-face masks with open masks for head and neck cancer patients, thus greatly improving patient comfort.
The foundation has seen overwhelming support from individuals, local businesses, and community groups, all contributing to this vital cause with local supporters rallying together to make a real difference for cancer patients.
Spotlight Ball Raises £15,881
The Spotlight Ball, the latest fundraising event in support of the Appeal, took place in October at The Boundary, Garon Park. This was the second Ball held for the cause, following the success of last year’s event, which raised just over £20,000. This year, over 160 guests gathered for a glamorous evening of dining, entertainment, and charitable giving, raising an impressive £15,881. Both events, organised by Southend Charitable Foundation Chair Emma Wynne-Morgan, were resounding successes, made possible by the generosity of the guests and the support of event sponsors Group 1 Automotive, Rickard Luckin, and Adventure Island.
Emma Praises Community Support
Emma Wynne-Morgan shared her gratitude for the local community’s support, saying: “Over the past year and a half, I’ve been amazed by how much our local hospital clearly means to our local community. We are incredibly grateful to our supporters for consistently going above and beyond to support the patients and families of Southend Hospital. The ball was not only a wonderful evening but a vital step towards reaching our £600,000 target, which will bring significant improvements to cancer care across Essex.”
Charity Director Thanks Supporters
Adding to this, Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity Director, Lucy Thomas-Clayton, expressed her thanks to the foundation and its supporters by saying: “Our community’s enthusiasm for jumping on board to support this appeal is something we, and the foundation, will never be able to give enough thanks for. Foundation Confident in 2025 Goal
With an aim to complete the appeal in 2025, the foundation is confident that the £600,000 target will be achieved, ensuring that Southend Hospital’s Radiotherapy department can offer patients the latest in cancer treatment technology.
