Carers First will be opening a new permanent residence to support carers at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. The drop-in centre will be available to support the wellbeing of care partners and provide practical advice and guidance.
Carers First staff will be available to offer a wide range of services and resources in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Emma Summers, Carers First Service Manager for Essex, said:
“At Carers First, we are proud to be celebrating this Carers Rights Day by opening a new permanent residence at Broomfield Hospital to provide information, guidance, and support to Essex carers. This year’s theme for Carers Rights Day is ‘recognising your rights,’ and we aim to help carers understand their rights and access the support available to them.
“Our new drop-in centre will be key to achieving this by offering carers a safe space to speak to our team when they need information, guidance, or simply a friendly face.”
The drop-in centre will be located in the atrium, alongside Macmillan’s information and support centre. The centre will open on Thursday, November 21st and will then be available every Friday from 10 am to 4 pm.
Carers First can support carers with:
- Information on support available in their local community
- Advice on benefits or working as a carer
- Access to a statutory carer’s assessment
- Local events and activities for a short break from caring
