Southend-on-Sea City Council is thrilled to announce that Nicholas McCarthy, the renowned one-handed pianist, will headline the Nicholas McCarthy Southend Concert as part of the Southend Council Concert Series.
Nicholas McCarthy, born without his right hand, has become a global sensation as one of the most inspiring pianists of our time. As the only one-handed pianist to graduate from the Royal College of Music (RCM) in over 130 years, he was honored with honorary membership by HRH King Charles in 2018 for his remarkable achievements.
Internationally acclaimed, Nicholas McCarthy has performed at major venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and across countries like the U.S., South Korea, and South Africa. He also gained fame for his performance alongside Coldplay at the 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony, captivating an audience of millions worldwide.
The Nicholas McCarthy Southend Concert will take place on Friday, 18 October, at 8pm at the Civic Centre on Victoria Avenue. The one-handed pianist will perform a unique programme featuring works by composers like Wagner, Liszt, and Bach.
