When Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust spoke with women and men living with a breast cancer diagnosis, one message came through clearly: support needs to go beyond the medical.
While treatments and hospital care are essential, the emotional and mental impact of breast cancer can be just as challenging. People told us they needed a safe place to recover, connect, and rebuild confidence.
Here Through Your Journey
That’s why the McAdden Sanctuary has been created, a calm, welcoming space designed exclusively for anyone affected by breast cancer, whether you’re newly diagnosed, in the middle of treatment, or finding your way afterwards.

The Sanctuary offers a wide range of support to nurture both body and mind. Gentle classes like Pilates and meditation encourage movement and relaxation, while holistic therapies such as oncology massage, reflexology, and counselling help ease stress and restore balance. Visitors can also join creative workshops and group discussions, a chance to share experiences, make friends, and know you’re not alone.
Practical knowledge is just as important as emotional support, which is why the Sanctuary will also host regular information sessions led by local GPs and healthcare professionals. These sessions are designed to empower people with the tools and confidence they need to navigate life during and after treatment.

Compassionate Expert Care
The McAdden Sanctuary is led by a dedicated team of specialist nurses and wellbeing practitioners who understand the challenges that come with a diagnosis. Their aim is to provide not just services, but a sense of belonging, a retreat where every visitor feels safe, supported, and heard.
Although the official opening is on 1st October, classes are already being gently launched throughout September, giving the community a first taste of what’s to come.
As one recent participant shared after attending an early session:
“It felt magical – a moment of calm and kindness when I really needed it.”
