On Tuesday evening, Thorpe Bay Golf Club played host to a celebration event marking the extraordinary success of Southend’s Hospital Charitable Foundations, Spotlight Appeal, a community-driven fundraising campaign that has now exceeded its target by raising an astonishing £920,000 for Southend Hospital’s radiotherapy department.

Waddle-on- Sea is an extraordinary public art event which will take place from Friday 11 July to Wednesday 3 September and aims to raise vital funds for Havens Hospice.

Two brothers, Raising over £2000 for Gold Geese, a local charity supporting children and young people fighting cancer in the Southend and Basildon areas.

Waddle-on-Sea – created by Havens Hospices and Wild in Art – will see more than 30 large penguin sculptures dotted around the city from 11th July-3rd September, each sponsored by a local business and painted by a professional artist in varying styles. 

Havens Hospices is calling for volunteers to join the Penguin Patrol and help support the Waddle-on-Sea art trail in Southend and Leigh this summer, a fun community event raising vital funds for hospice care.

The Programmes of Support Team at Carers First have announced that their Addiction and Dependency Resource Bank is now available for carers.  

Southend in Sight is closing its doors at 117 Hamlet Court Road from 11 April 2025, and moving to its new home at:
