The Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal, launched in February 2023 to support Southend Hospital’s Radiotherapy department, has not only reached but exceeded its initial £600,000 target ahead of schedule, thanks to overwhelming community support and a generous £100,000 legacy donation.

Many young carers can struggle with their mental health and miss school due to the pressures of their caring role. This service offers group activities, events, school support, and assessments for young carers in the area.

Based at the Haven Community Hub in Hamlet Court Road, formerly the Havens Department store, Age Concern have certainly grown since the charity was founded 50 years ago in 1974.

Throughout December, Carers First have been sharing carer stories, tips and advice relating to helping people thrive in their caring role as part of their festive ‘12 Days of Caring’ series, which amplifies the voices of carers.
